Sweet Treats?

DO YOU HAVE A SWEET TOOTH? Well if you do, then keep reading cause trust me it'll be worth it.
   
     As a student from Chennai pursuing my high school education, I used to travel from home to school and vice versa every day, by the time school got over, I would always want to grab a snack before I’d leave. Well, what did I want? Yes, you’re right! Something to satisfy my sweet tooth! I would always run to a dessert parlour that was around 5 mins away from school to grab some sweet treats. This dessert parlor and cafe is located in chetpet. It is the only waffle place located there. Well, you guessed it right! This is a review on “Waf O’ Bel”. It is located in 5/33, 13th Avenue, Harrington road, Chetpet, Chennai. Their opening hours are from 2PM - 11PM on weekdays and 11AM - 11PM on weekends with free parking. The cost for two people is approximately 800 rupees.

      They have a 15% off on axis bank Credit and Debit cards as well as a 15% off on ICICI bank Credit and Debit cards.


      They provide a wide variety of cuisines to pick from, Desserts, Cafe, Bakery, Belgian, Continental, European, Ice creams, and even Street food. This dessert parlour serves only vegetarian food, I’m pretty sure you vegetarians out there are starting to get hyped up!
     

      Waf O’ Bel is rated a 4.5/5 by zomato, 4/5 by dineout and 4.5/5 by tripadvisor.

      Keep reading as I’ll be including their menu and pictures of some desserts that blew my mind. I will also be adding reviews from few customers as well, as everyone's point of view is different. I will also describe the things that stand out in their food, discuss their service and ambience of the cafe.


     I don’t wanna keep you waiting any longer, let’s take a look at their menu!



As seen in the menu, the eatery offers both sweet and savory waffles. The Red Carpet Raspberry is my absolute favorite. It’s all about those zesty and tangy flavors. It spontaneously creates a party in your mouth, and also the Choco Chock is extremely rich in chocolate and is drizzled with Belgian Chocolate on top. The Brussels waffles are definitely a stand out in this eatery. They’re really fresh and well balanced. Sounds Delicious right? Take a look at these pictures for now! 

Overall for the taste, I would rate them a 5 out of 5. I couldn’t ask for more. Those chocolaty waffles just makes me wanna go for more. Lets take a look at some public reviews,

Great and yummy! Even in Europe you can hardly find such crispy waffles and the toppings are just awesome. Definitely a must if you want a taste of Europe - JeanC85 – (tripadvisor).

MUST EATS:
Black and white: Whipped Cream Complemented With Belgian Chocolate Sauce,  Fruit Compote of Your Choice with Soft Whipped Cream.
These dishes with make your mouth water.

The eatery also offers a separate delivery menu. It contains mostly savory waffles.

Now lets take a look at the service aspect. The orders are taken in tablets. The staff were really polite and friendly. It takes about 15 – 20 mins to bring the order. But, since they are freshly made waffles, that shd’nt be a worry. Overall, for their service, I would rate them a 4/5.

Next, lets take a look at the ambiance of the eatery. As we enter the eatery, it is surrounded by greenery and the indoor part of the eatery is really beautiful and cozy. Overall, I would rate it a 4/5. Here are some pictures,

To the lover of waffles this the best place to have in town. Their ambience was great to look at and was so creative. Last Sunday me and my cousin visited this place and ordered for Belgian chocolate waffles whipped with cream dusted with chocolate. The waffles were crunchy outside and fluffy inside .Presentation was also so good. -  Porna Sathyasai – (Zomato)


Overall I would rate “Waf O’Bel" a 4.5 out of 5. I highly recommend you guys to try it out. Hope you guys have a great experience like I did!!!

The very hungry frenchman

Raymond Blanc: the Very Hungry Frenchman (BBC Two) was a food programme with too many ingredients. Stirred together to form a near-indigestible stew, it combined elements of a traditional cookery series with those of a TV travelogue and a Who Do You Think You Are?-style documentary, as Blanc revisited the areas of France that inspired him to become a chef. Greek week

Baklava is an ancient Greek delicacy, valued for it's rich culture and references in history. It is a soft, flaky pastry with pistachio paste and caramel. This recipe serves 18. Ingredients  250g butter, melted 500g chopped walnuts 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1 packet filo pastry 200g caster sugar 250ml water 8 tablespoons honey 1 large piece of lemon peel Directions Preheat oven to 180 C. Butter the bottom and sides of a 23x33cm baking dish. Toss nuts with cinnamon. Set aside. Unroll filo pastry. Cut whole stack at once to fit the dimensions of the baking dish. Cover filo with a damp cloth to keep from drying out as you work. Place two sheets of filo in dish, buttering the top layer. Repeat until you have 8 sheets layered. Sprinkle 2 to 3 tablespoons of nut mixture on top. Top with two sheets of filo, butter, nuts, layering as you go. The top layer should be about 6 to 8 sheets deep.
