Brick House Bistro is a small restaurant trying to punch above its weight.

It is located on the ground floor of an apartment complex on 6th Avenue, Anna Nagar with its door opening into an alleyway. Apart from the small name board there is nothing much to identify the restaurant from the outside.

There is space for a couple of bikes to park in the alleyway, otherwise you'd have to park on the road. The outer wall of the restaurant on the alley's side had popular TV Chefs like Gordon Ramsay, Marco Pierre White, Heston Blumenthal etc., painted with a small introduction about them. Clearly harping about the international influence that the restaurateurs had while planning this up.

The restaurant itself is quaint. Old furniture and bright colors welcome you. It gives a warm feeling. There are some interesting quotations hung on the wall, which are a good read. The tables are quite close to each other so on a crowded day it must feel really crowded. The cutlery and crockery used is average and nothing great to write about.

The variety on the menu is good. There were some interesting options under Brunches, but apparently these are served only on weekends! That's a bummer. Information such as that should be on the menu itself. Moreover, the menu itself was poorly designed. Some improvement needed there.

We started with the Cheesy Gooey Fries. The fries themselves were dry and hard to bite into. Still I wanted to re-order it just because of the tasty sauce that drenched the fries. It was mouth-watering. I'd rate this dish a 4 out of 5.

We had a Chicken Burger of which I was not a great fan of. It was juicy but too sweet for my liking. Then we had the Grilled Pesto Chicken Steak. The Basil Pesto Sauce was a topping of delight. The Chicken was braised to near perfection - perhaps a few seconds more than required which made it a tad chewy. But it tasted amazing. The mash that accompanied also was a winner. Perfect consistency. The only dampener was the Veggies that are on the sides. Normally, veggies are julienned when they are added as accompaniments to the steak. In this case they were pickled and cut into inconsistent shapes. Not a great thing to behold. Only for that I cannot treat this as a perfect dish.

By the way, they have their own water bottle brand "Oxify"

When we walked in only one table was occupied and for the length of our stay there was only one more walk-in. Perhaps that's why there was only one waiter on sight. Nevertheless, he was always around so we really didn't face any problem ordering or checking something. He appeared to be adequately comfortable with the menu because all questions we asked were answered promptly. Nothing standing out in the service but nothing to complain either.

Medium sized groups of 6 or 8 people aren't gonna appreciate this. Large groups can occupy one room entirely so that'd make sense. It can turn noisy when the crowd is full. Best suited for couples or small families who like Continental or American food. For two of us including GST it cost us nearly Rs. 900. So, its not very light on the pocket.
